Neon Clash Extravanza
Just a little diddly today. It's a Van She Tech remix of Ladyhawke's Back of the Van. I admit that the whole clash thing is sounding pretty dated already, BUT seriously, when you have the feeling of audial rape, then you have to give it a few minutes, right? oh, and casting yourself in a lolcat picture is a fine selling point to!

Dragon: Roarhrhrhrh Fire!
Canadian popsters Dragonette, made up of Martina Sorbara, her husband Dan Kurtz, Will Stapleton and Joel Stouffer, are going to be big. They haven't released anything but a single and an EP, and already Popjustice are, and have been for quite a while, shitting themselves over the quality of this band. Pop songs of perfect quality, with that added heavy electro synth - The kids are going to go nuts.

Here is a semi new remix by this blogs current favorite Van She of the single I Get Around. The Van She sound merges perfectly with Dragonian disco fury - you must enjoys this:

Je suis la discothèque
So who is the this nice looking chap on the left? Alain Quême of course... What, it doesn't ring a bell? OK, then you might know him as Alan Braxe - one of the select group frenchmen to bring housemusic to the masses. He scored bigtime with Distortion Disco favorite Music Sounds Better you - seriously, has there ever been written a better lovesong?
The very premise that music sounds better with someone is great and oh so true.

Well as things go, people sometimes go back into the underground, which was what mr Braxe did until Norwegian electro nerd Erlend Øye rediscovered him and his great track Rubicon. Since then he has been a firm favorite on the remix market, constantly reminding us what was so great about French filter house while at the same time updating the lush synth sounds with an even smoother sound... Yes, apparently that was/is possible!

First track is one of last years greatest remixes in this blogs opinion - A great buildup, synths as wet as a trip through the rain forest, patience is the key word. What I really like about the track is the fact that nothing seems forced everything fits like a gem-studded white glove.

Second songs is the recent remix of Shakedown's Lonely Road. If Kraftwerk had been forced to watch icky fleshy real life human beings believe that music sounded better with a significant other, then this is probably what they would have made on the following album - again his buildup are immaculate.

2006 End of year dogma special 1
So another year is soon ripe to be torn from the calender - ready to be forgotten like a christmas album from Girls Aloud or the retirement of Jay-Z.

Since just about every blog is posting some sort of "these are the really good songs of the year" mp3's, I'm going to indulge myself with 2 micro mixes of some of the songs which made the year for distortion disco.

Being Danish this cannot be done without dogmas:
  • Only 4 songs per mix.
  • Max length 8 minuttes.
  • 1 song must not be a remix.
  • 3 songs must be remixes.
  • The two micro mixes must fall in the following 2 catagorys: Bangin', minimal
These Dogmas are of course (as always) total shite, but Lars Von Trier made Björk cry, something for which he has never recieved proper credit and therefore: Lars, Distortion Disco salutes you!

Distortion Disco - End of Year Dogma mix Part 1 (6:04 minuttes)

Tracklist:

The Presets - Are You The One (Van She Remix)
Simian Mobile Disco - Disco Animal
The Rapture - Get Myself Into It (sebastiAn Remix)
Justice - Waters of Nazerath (Erol Alkans Dur Dur Durrr Re-edit)

Bonus Von Trier Qoute:
The last year has been more full of fear than ever before... but on the personal level, each of my films is a little monument. (You gotta love this man - seriously, look at the picture!)

Next mix coming this weekend!
